Getting Grounded Gracefully is a series of 16 lessons specifically designed to improve balance in everyday life, especially as one ages. The program proceeds methodically through many of the basic elements that relate to good balance. It utilizes the gentle kinesthetic learning processes of the Feldenkrais Method. to facilitate improvement. The movement lessons are done sitting in chairs, standing by a chair and eventually walking. One of the aims of the program is to reduce the risk of falling by improving coordination and by developing more of a varied kinesthetic awareness in movement. This program will be helpful for a wide range of people, as balance is a function that can always get better. One's balance can be disturbed for a wide range of reasons: injuries, surgery, asymmetry, and certain disease processes all can contribute to a reduction in confidence related to balance. People who are recovering from an injury on one side will find that this program can also help them move with more symmetry thus making it easier to move in a balanced fashion and thus with more ease.
